By Brian Scott If North Carolina property reverts back to the financial institution, what is the advantage of buying one of these North Carolina properties? Does this mean that no buyer wants to pay the opening bid on the property because the house is over-valued? In short, yes, but the long answer is where you can make your profit. First of all, banks are in the business of money, not the business of real estate, so when it comes to foreclosure pricing at auctions or at short sales they are far behind the curve on what the market value of the opening bid needs to be.

As North Carolina properties increasingly revert back to the banks though, they are beginning to catch on. After the banks get these properties back they realize that the reason why these properties didn't sell is that they are A) overpriced for the current North Carolina market, and B) need work done to sell at current market price.
